Edward G. Greene has been charged with multiple crimes in connection with an embezzlement scheme said to have occurred while he was director at the Ark City Senior Citizens Center.

Greene, 47, was taken into custody around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday following a months-long investigation by the city of Ark City, local police and the office of the Cowley County Attorney, according to police chief Sean Wallace. The probe began after several monetary discrepancies were uncovered for a time frame from 2007 to 2012.
