Two Men Charged in String of Recent Sumner Burglaries

Two Wichita men have been formally charged with numerous crimes associated with a recent string of home burglaries in Sumner County.

Christopher McDaniel, 34, and Kevin Parker, 28, are facing burglary and theft charges involving four homes in an area between Belle Plaine and Peck.

According to the criminal complaint, McDonald acted as a lookout for Parker, as he entered the residences and took items.

Parker also is accused of assaulting Sumner County deputy Risa Stegman, last week when Stegman attempted to apprehend the suspects, who at the time were wanted in connection with the burglaries.

Stegman used her patrol car to block the suspects but they pushed her vehicle aside with theirs and fled the county. The deputy radioed ahead to Sedgwick County authorities who arrested the men as they attempted to flee their vehicle on foot.
