The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has arrested a man in connection with a death in Ponca City, According to the Ponca City News.
According to a release by the OSBI, Jared Bales, 32, was arrested Monday by Oklahoma State Bureau Investigation agents on a complaint of murder in the first degree in connection with a body that was found in an old, abandoned trailer southeast of Ponca City.
Kay County Sheriffs say that authorities were led to the site where the body was located by Cassie Cramer, who was arrested by deputies on Sunday in Ponca City on warrants.
Police reported once in jail the Blaes and Cramer reportedly started talking about hiding a body and Cramer requested to speak to the police. After Cramer was interviewed Monday she led officials to the body that was dumped in the trailer and hidden under a mattress.
The body, reportedly, was badly decomposed. OSBI reports the body had been there several weeks and the medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy later this week to determine the cause and manner of death. Doctors will also make a positive identification on the victim.
29-year-old Michael James Jefferies is wanted for questioning in the case, according to Kay County Sheriffs. Jefferies is a fugitive from Colorado and has warrants out of Kay County. His criminal background in Kay County includes charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault.
He is described as 6ft. tall, 145 pounds and blue eyes. His last known local address was listed in the 1500 block of South Ninth Street in Ponca City.
