By: Blake Carter

The new proposed budget for finical year of 2013 for Cowley County includes a 5-percent cost of living increase for county employees, who haven’t had a cost-of-living increase since 2010.

New County administrator Jeremy Willmoth, said this is needed since he believes while being a government, Cowley County is also an employer, and good employees need to be rewarded.

“If we don’t reward our good employees they will leave. And we will be left with are employees that aren’t motivated, that don’t really want to be here and won’t provide the level of service, that I think the citizens demand and deserve,” Willmoth said.

Willmoth has presented the new proposed budget to the County Commission this week and will continue to meet with the Commission in the upcoming weeks with a public hearing on Aug. 7th.

The proposal is up for viewing at www.cowelycounty.org
