By: Shawn Wheat

A Winfield apartment building was evacuated after a fire breaks out behind one of the buildings.

Just after 6:00p.m. Friday, fire crews were called to Canterbury Village Apartments, in the 23090 block of Saint James Ct.

Crews arrived to find flames on the back of the 100 building near two air conditioning units.

The fire caused apartments to fill with smoke, forcing the evacuation of the entire building.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control quickly. No one was hurt.

Fire investigators say their preliminary investigation indicated the fire may have been electrical in nature.

The Red Cross has been called in to assist families who have been displaced.
