3-year-old Anthony Lopez Hernandez has been found safe, and unhurt, while the suspect, Francisco Jose Lopez-Campos, was taken into custody.
Ark City Police Chief Sean Wallace confirmed that Hernandez was found just before 5:00p.m. Sunday at the State Fishing Lake, about 10 miles east of Ark City.
Earlier Sunday, Lopez-Campos’ car was found at the lake. It was taken back to the Ark Kansas City Police Department for further investigation.
Hernandez was taken by force around 11:30p.m. Saturday night following an altercation during a supervised visitation with Lopez-Campos, who is the boy’s father, in the 600 block of South 6th in Ark City.
Wallace says Lopez-Campos was taken into custody without incident, and will be taken to the Cowley County Jail.
According to Wallace, it took team work with many different agencies, and technology, to find Hernandez.

News Release
Arkansas City Police Department (ACPD) received notice at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30 that a 3-year old boy was allegedly abducted.
The boy’s mother called to say Anthony Lopez Hernandez was taken by force following an altercation during a supervised visitation with his father, Francisco Jose Lopez-Campos. An Amber Alert has been issued.
The suspect’s vehicle has been located but was found empty. A crime scene and perimeter has been set up and local law enforcement officers, trained trackers, and the K-9 Unit are currently in search of the suspect and the child. Local highways are also being monitored.
The child is said to be 2 ft. 5 in., 38 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. The suspect, Lopez-Campos, is said to be 5 ft. 5 in., 200 pounds and bald. He is a suspected gang member from Yonkers, NY and has taken the child there before.
Law enforcement officials are asking the public to call 1-800-KSCRIME (1-800-572-7463)if someone has any information regarding the abduction and/ or if someone sees individuals matching these descriptions. The suspect is potentially armed, considered dangerous and should not be confronted.
