CORRECTION: No One Arrested After Two Hit By Car

By: Shawn Wheat

In a follow up to a story we posted Monday, we wanted to correct some information.

Police and EMS responded to a 911 call around 9:45 P.M. on Friday, for the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 1000 block of East 13th in Winfield.

According to Assistant Winfield Police Chief Brett Stone, before the two pedestrians were hit by the car, there was a fight between 23-year-old Zack Peters and 25-year-old Eric Paschal, both from Winfield.

Paschal fled from the area after the fight. His girlfriend, 19-year-old Tabetha Stasa, was inside her car when Paschal ran from the area. Stone believes that Stasa may have panicked when her car was surrounded, and may have accidently hit the two people.  She was later stopped and taken in for questioning, but was never arrested.

The two hit by the car were treated and released from the scene with only minor injuries.

Stone says after more interviews Monday, their department decided to drop the possible charges of Aggravated Battery with a vehicle against Stasa.

He says they still plan on filing the possible charge of Battery against Paschal, with the District Attorney’s Office.

Two were arrested Friday night after allegedly hitting pedestrians with their car in Winfield.

Police and EMS responded to a 911 call around 9:45 P.M. on Friday, for the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 1000 block of East 13th in Winfield.

The two were hit after a fight between Zack Peters, 23, and Eric Paschal, 25, both from Winfield.

Authorities say Peters was left beaten as Paschal fled from the scene on foot.

His girlfriend Dabetha Stasa, 19 of Winfield was then surrounded in her vehicle and struck two pedestrians as she also fled the scene.

Police stopped her a couple of blocks away and both Stasa and Paschal were taken into custody.

The two pedestrians that were struck were evaluated by the EMS then treated and released.

Paschal could be charged with battery and Stasa could be charged with aggravated battery with a vehicle.
