Ark City Dentist Dr. John Seitz was back in the Cowley County Jail Tuesday, after he is said to have again violated a protective order issued by the court. Seitz posted $10,000 bond and was released from jail around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Seitz, 52, was taken into custody around 6:45 p.m. and remained in jail overnight. A warrant was issued for his arrest for a bond violation and for violating a protection from stalking order.
He is scheduled to return to court on July 30.
As a condition of his latest bond, Seitz will be required to surrender his concealed carry license, surrender any guns in his possession, meet with a court services officer at least once per week and allow a search of his phone, he is allowed one cell phone and must wear a GPS monitoring device. Certain exclusionary zones will be established that Seitz will not be allowed to visit.
He will wear the monitoring device 24 hours a day.
Seitz was taken into custody at his residence without incident. He was represented by Ark City attorney Rod Iverson at a court appearance this morning.
Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith said Seitz was arrested for contact alleged to have occurred Tuesday. He was previously arrested for contact said to have occurred June 13.
The Winfield woman who has the protective order against Seitz also is a potential witness in an investigation against the dentist, officials said. Last month, authorities searched Seitz’s business, Ark City Dental, and his home, but have yet to file formal charges related to those searches.
Smith would not comment specifically on reports that the woman who filed the protective order had contacted Seitz first in the instances that led to his violations.
Nothing says the person filing the order cannot contact the person who has the order against them, Smith said, but the person with the order against them cannot respond.
"I would think at this point, (Seitz) would understand that," Smith said. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 By: Shawn Wheat
Ark City Dentist, Dr. John Seitz, was arrested again Tuesday night, for allegedly violating the same protective order he was arrested for a week ago.
According to the Cowley County Sheriff Office, Seitz was arrested at his Ark City home around 6:45p.m. Tuesday, after an arrest warrant was issued.
Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith confirmed the warrant was issued after Seitz allegedly broke the protective order with the same victim. He was arrested for the same charge on June 12th, at his office in Ark City.
Seitz was held overnight in the Cowley County Jail because bond was not set due to the second offence. He was scheduled to be in District Court at 9:30a.m. this morning.
Last month, the Cowley County Sheriff’s office, Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Ark City Police conducted a search of Seitz’s home and his business, Ark City Dental. This arrest was not a result of those searches but that initial investigation is continuing.
