By: Shawn Wheat

At least two people were seriously hurt Saturday Night at the Kansas Badland, east of South Haven, in Sumner County.

According to the Sumner County Sheriff Office, early in the evening, two women were riding in the back of a pickup truck, when both fell from the vehicle, hitting their head.

One was taken by ambulance to the Kansas Turnpike, where they were then transferred to an Eagle Med helicopter.  The medical helicopter then took the one woman to a Wichita Hospital for treatment. The deputy could not comment of the extent of the injuries of the second woman.

In a separate accident later in the evening, a man was injured while riding his 4-wheeler. The deputy said the man was taken from the Kansas Badlands via Eagle Med to a Wichita Hospital.

Sgt. Rodger Church said the accidents are still under investigation.  Names and additional information would be released on Monday.
