Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt is set to be the keynote speaker Friday at a graduation ceremony for D.A.R.E. students in Ark City.
Fifth-grade classes from Roosevelt, Adams and C-4 elementary, along with the seventh-grade class from Ark City Middle School, will take part in the ceremony which begins at 7 p.m. at the high school. D.A.R.E. is a drug-awareness program overseen locally by the Ark City Police Dept.
Students have been attending D.A.R.E. class over the last ten weeks, learning about forms of communication, how to handle stress and facts about alcohol and tobacco.
