A short police pursuit occurred early this morning when Cowley County Sheriff Deputies attempted to stop a reckless driver in the 400 Block of East 4^th in Winfield.

The driver refused to stop and fled through northern Winfield before driving through a debris pile at Winfield Iron and Metal deflating three tires. The vehicle was stopped shortly thereafter at the Timber Creek Bridge.

The driver, identified as Christopher Lynne Bungart, 18, of rural Winfield, failed a sobriety test and was arrested for DUI, Reckless Driving, Attempting to Flee and Elude, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
